It operates approximately 5,000 stores. The company was formerly known as Tesco Stores (Holdings) Limited and changed its name to Tesco PLC in 1983. Tesco PLC was founded in 1919 and is based in Cheshunt, the United Kingdom. It is the largest Food & drug retailers company by market capitalisation in the United Kingdom,
